Eto’o May Replace Dike At Toronto -As Celtic, Hull, QPR Chase Eagles Striker By Sam O’Femi Fasetire sam.fasetire@sportsdayonline Frenetic transfer interest swirling round Super Eagles striker, Bright Dike has occasioned reports in a section of the British media that Chelsea’s Camerounian striker, Samuel Eto’o may replace the bulky Nigerian attacker at Major League Soccer (MLS) club, FC Toronto in the January transfer window. Dike has been linked of recent with possible transfer deals at Celtic of Scotland as well as the English duo of Hull City and Queens Park Rangers, which has put Canada-based Toronto on alert for a new striker in the winter and all fingers are now pointing in the unlikely direction of Eto’o stepping in as savior at the MLS club. The report from Queensland states further that Etoo is being heavily linked with a shock move to the MLS and Sportmediaset is reporting that the Real Mallorca and FC Barcelona of Spain attacker, who has also played for Inter Milan of Italy and Anzhi Makhachkala of Russia, is on the shopping list of Dike’s ambitious Toronto-based club. Etoo penned a 12-month deal with Chelsea in the summer and is free to negotiate a pre-contract with any foreign club from January 1, 2014 and could be duly tempted to step into Dike’s shoes at Toronto. Dike’s club a reputed with enough cash to splash, having also recently entered talks with another EPL club, Tottenham Hotspur over a £6 million deal for Jermain Defoe, and reports say they have enough spending power to land Cameroon legend, Eto’o. It is now left to be seen if Eto’o would accept to ship out of Stamford Bridge so soon after arriving at the behest of his former handler at Inter, Jose Mourinho, but will have to make up his mind quickly, considering that Dike is appearing closer than ever to his Toronto exit. Talk of Dike moving on received a further boost with reports that Hull City boss, Steve Bruce is eyeing the FC Toronto striker, who scored the Eagles’ first goal in their recent 2-2 draw with Italy at Craven Cottage, after also netting against Catalonia in only his second national team appearance earlier this year, and has also been linked with Celtic and QPR.
