Even before the polls closed on September 18 2014 a concerted - TopicsExpress

Even before the polls closed on September 18 2014 a concerted effort to rehabilitate the hapless Tory leaderette in North Britain got under way with the British media dutifully parroting the line that she had a good referendum campaign. She didnt, of course. She was as mired in the obscenity of Project Fear as any of the Tories Liberal Democrat puppets or British Labour allies. If wee Ruthie was less prominent in the British states propaganda war to deny the sovereignty of Scotlands people it is only because, like her pal Johann Lamont, she is merely a Scottish lackey and must therefore always be in the shadow of real British politicians such as Alistair Darling and Gordon Brown. It may not be that they lie better than her, but the British medias contempt for Scotland meant that they would always lie louder. There is another reason Ruth Davidson was largely ignored by the British media - and the people of Scotland. To be brutally frank, every time she opens her mouth she comes across as a silly wee lassie who hasnt a clue what is going on. Look, for example, at her insistence that the referendum result was decisive. If there is one thing that authoritative commentators are generally agreed upon it is that the referendum settled nothing. That realisation has yet to dawn on poor Ruth Davidson. I strongly advise that you do not hold your breath as you wait for the penny to drop. But her pathological lack of awareness doesnt end there. She is totally oblivious to the crass hypocrisy of whining about a totally hypothetical SNP pact to support a British Labour government at Westminster when the two main British parties have been in an intimate alliance for more than two years. An alliance which continues as they jointly struggle to defend the old order and the old ways against a rising tide of progressive dissent in Scotland. While Davidson bleats about a possible Labour/SNP pact at Westminster, all the evidence suggest that a continuation and extension of the existing Tory/Labour alliance is at least as likely. These people have already demonstrated that they will do absolutely anything to preserve the structures of power and privilege which define the British state. Lying and scaremongering were considered perfectly acceptable. So why not a Tory/Labour coalition against Scotlands democratically elected representatives? We note that, despite widespread speculation on the possibility of such a coalition, Ruth Davidson does nothing to rule it out. On the contrary, her petulant railing against a Labour/SNP pact could well be seen as preparing the ground for a grand alliance of the parties of the British establishment against what has outrageously been called an SNP insurgency. Davidson further demonstrates that she hasnt a clue whats going on by claiming that Ed Miliband and Nicola Sturgeon are already halfway down the aisle. She seems blind to the fact that British Labour has made no response whatever to tentative suggestions of cooperating with the SNP. It may be that Ed Miliband is contemplating emulating Jim Callaghan (1979) and Gordon Brown (2010) by allowing the Tories in rather than do a deal with the SNP. Or it may be that Ed Miliband is just waiting on a better offer from David Cameron. NOTE: I appear to have been blocked from commenting on The Scotsman website.
