Even in tragedy, Robin Williams makes a lasting contribution to the world by opening a discourse and shedding light on the tragedy of suicide. For those among us who suffer from depression, it proves that this is a serious disease which does not discriminate between the classes, financial security, popularity, influence or looks. Hopefully, in the wake of this tragedy the topic of depression and suicide prevention can be renewed in the public perception, some of the stigma drop away, and some meaningful conversations can get going so some of the people who are suffering at this time can be inspired to reach out for help before it is too late.
