Ever been on a ship before, and while your travelling on it, its pretty stormy, you see loads of people trying to stop falling over, yet they still buy things from the horribly overpriced gift shop. You see people outside the ship on the walkways standing and slipping over on the wet floor, but still keep jumping up and over the place. Ive seen someone being pretty violently sick all over their pretty new looking shoes, and 30 minutes later they are eating a huge meal, while their last meal is still clinging to life on their tights. This happened to me when travelling over the Irish sea, and I looked at all of this, and thought isnt this whole situation a little like the way society has to keep updating its image to stay fresh. What I mean by this is that people are desperately trying to stay afloat in this sea of over-stimulation and the fear of outdating from our peers, people are building stilts to see over the clouds, but are becoming more and more unstable every time on the foundations, people are jumping into wind tunnels for the thrill, but forget about the sharp fans at the other end. And we are constantly gorging ourselves with everything that you can humanly grab and keep, but as soon as that gets updated, people stick their fingers down their throat; vomit up what was old, then fill themselves up with whats new. Then lose a little part of themselves in the process.
