Ever since i became a thinker, have debated countless number of thiests to realize that most of them dont have anything new to offer in a discourse. Each time i debate this religious people, there argument are always centered on the following points; * SHIFTING THE BURDEN OF PROOF - A confused friend on my list called KENECHUKWU SKETCH will tell you that I know God exists, If you disagree, prove that God doesnt exist. And when you disagree with him, he will say; Oh! You say you cant prove God doesnt exist? Thats because you know he does exist! Why shift the burden of proof in the first place? * ARGUMENT FROM POPULARITY - Some religious folks will say vast majority of the world believes in God. This supports the universal truth that God is real, otherwise it makes no sense that so many people would believe in God existence, hmm! Is that so? * THE TRANSCENDENTAL ARGUMENT - Some will tell you that God is the greatest being and cant be conceived or imagined. Lwkmd! This argument shows how irrational religious folks are. God cant be imagined or conceived, but God speaks to them and help them. Lol * ARGUMENT FROM COERCION - Some religious often tell me that i must believe in God/Jesus or i die. Some will say, Jesus is my only hope for salvation. Some will say, thinkers are all doomed if we dont accept Jesus as our personal savior. Some will say, if you want to live forever and avoid suffering, you must accept God. How come i havent experience all those for the past ten years as a thinker? and how come Bill Gate is the richest man on earth? And how come religious folks undergo the same struggle like ireligious folks if God help those that believe in him? * FIRST CAUSE ARGUMENT - a friend called Olakunle Allison love this argument a lot. He will tell you that, everything that exists in our world is the result of some sort of first cause which brought about its existence. Therefore, there must have been a force which created the universe. That first cause is what we call God. This argument is what i call Cosmological Argument. * ARGUMENT FROM AUTHORITY - Some religious folks will tell you that God is real because the Bible (or whatever sacred book they believe in) says so. Some will ignorant tell you that why would so many people write so much about God if it wasnt true? Pls, why would so many people doubt God existence if truly God existed? * ARGUMENT FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE - This argument is the most popular. Many religious folks tell you that I know God exists because I can feel him. I know God is in my heart; God talks to me; I feel his strength and existence flow through every fiber of my being. God has helped me in many tight situations unimaginable. Is that so? Why havent God talked to me? Why is your God being selective of who he will show his existence to? Why am i being saved from tight situation also despite me being irreligious? * ARGUMENT FROM IMPROBABILITY - Theres one Engr Charles, Pastor Oyetunbo, Allison etc who will tell you that the second law of thermodynamics says matter inevitably becomes entropic (spreads out in chaos) and this defies the observation on Earth where we see, things becoming more organized. Therefore God is responsible. Really? Why would a intelligent God start his creation from primitive to complex? Then, hes not intelligent. * PASCAL WAGERS - Many religious people have told me its is a safe bet to believe in God just in case he is real. Whats the harm? If you believe and he doesnt exist, you dont lose anything, but if you dont believe and he does exist, you lose big time. Nope, i dont lose anything, instead, religious folks lose more because we all will end up in hell anyway. * ARGUMENT FROM DESIGN - This argument is also popular because some often tell me that, if you found a watch on the ground, you never met the watchmaker, but you know from its design, the beauty of it; the way each piece was intricately designed to work together, that this watch had a creator. Theists point to the human body; the precise way each of our organs work with each other and claim its the most amazing creation of all, and surely there was some sort of creator behind it. Some also point at the weather changes etc.. If thats the case, a intelligent design must affix his logo or signature in its design, pls, where is the logo or signature of God located in the universe?
