Ever take a dive in a lock? As a matter of fact I did, just today. What happened? I went to retrieve a bow line, teetered for a moment on the edge, and after a few seconds of tryin to get my balance back I lost it! Down I went. How did ya get back on the boat? It took this old man a little while, but I didnt loose my hat, or my pipe! Wow! Would ya do it again? You bet! Yep, I fell off the Huck while tryin to stay cool in the locks at Moore Haven. All is OK! I needed a bath anyway cause its been a hot one, and I was doin what I do best...sweat. The rest of the day in the canal was OK. The landscape was a little bleak and desolate to me. There were a lot of birds around and that made it worth the look. I saw the first cypress since leavin the St. Johns River, and these are pond cypress that have mostly died off around the lake because of what reason I dont know exactly, but I suspect its because they keep changin he water elevation and the trees dont do well when the water level is too far up the trunk. Anyway, Ft. Myers here I come in two days. I changed the oil in my Honda and did some expedient repairs on my transom, that has been worryin me for a few days, so Ill be ready for the Gulf and the bays. Lookin forward to it!
