Every day, people post articles titled Ten reasons you should marry your hunky boyfriend or Top scientific reasons you should stuff your face with pizza. And thats fine, we all know these articles are meant to be silly and fun. But weve also forgotten the power of social media in our modern day. What we post, reflects the world around us and has the power to create change within it. Just look at how the Arab Spring brought power to the people, or how the Venezuela public used social media when their government censored the news. Tomorrow, the Peoples Climate March is going to make history. Hundreds of thousands of us will be marching in NYC, standing up for a cleaner future and to demand real change from our politicians and decision makers. More than 2,000 other PC events are taking place in over 160 countries all over the world, from France to Hong Kong to San Francisco. But, if you cant make it to an event, YOU CAN STILL BE A PART OF THIS HUGE MOVEMENT. Share photos, tweet at your representatives, use the #peoplesclimatemarch in your posts, start conversations! This is such a huge opportunity and if you care about any of the things Ive been posting about in the past few days, clean water, indigenous populations, biodiverstiy, poverty, etc., you should make that known! Use this opportunity to tell our representatives why YOU support ACTUAL change in how we have been dealing (or rather not dealing) with climate change. Tell the world leaders that environmental and social rights of the public should be their PRIORITY, not their own political agendas.
