Every once in awhile the MSC gets to do a staged opera. This year its Don Giovanni and its the season opener. Now, Im not a good audience member. Id rather be participating. And opera, well, you get to sing 14 notes, then wait for the arias, sing another 14 (except this time the men sing the second phrase) wait again, then sing 28 notes. However, at dress rehearsal we sang for our 48 second spot but missed our exit cue. We were on stage for at least 5 minutes. And the director like it! So tonight Is our GRAND SEASON OPENER. Im pretty excited :) It will be a new staging but the setting will have the orchestra on the audience level, like in Mozarts time. We get to wear niftier costumes and I feel pretty good about the whole thing. And I LOVE MOZART. So tidy and brilliant. In another time warp perhaps Mozart will have lived to be a ripe old age and give us more phenomenal music. The John WIlliams of the 1700s. Our concert is tonight, tomorrow afternoon and Tuesday. You should come. :)
