Every struggle, every pain, every illness, every ailment. Every time we lose something, someone. Every time we ourselves are lost. These are chances, these are changes. They allow us to feel empathy, or to feel apathy. To internalize, and focus on ourselves, or externalize, and connect to others. We can go straight to apathy and disconnect, separate ourselves from others, protect ourselves from this world. Better yet we can focus the pain on us, elevate ourselves above others because we are unique and take precedence, for why would we not? Or we can use each instance, each hurt, each despair to further connect to our fellow man. To understand, to be able to comfort and console. To become attuned with our Creator. Grow more or wither, the choice is yours, the choice is mine, every day. Every day. We are not alone, He is with us, to the ends of the earth, so fear has no place within heart, soul, or mind. But the choice remains solely ours. Choose wisely, and return after choosing poorly. Grow in fertile ground. Do not rely solely on yourself, for no tree is a forest by itself. Grow and become your own tree, a tree in His forest. Rely on the shade of those taller, and nurture the saplings beneath your branches. Flourish with the living water of love.
