Everyone knows I love women. I like to surround myself with smart, strong willed yet compassionate , funny and ambitious women. I like to call myself pro-woman , but a few have been known to label me a feminist. Like thats a bad thing. Some guy I used to know once called me a lesbian. His reason ? I am always complimenting girls, saying how smart a girl is, or when she is dressed to kill I tell her she has nice legs and/or booty, or I like her hairdo. He found that strange. And I understand where he is coming from. Society has this misconception about us. We are supposed to be petty, jealous creatures who hate each other for absolutely no reason, we rejoice at another womans downfall and join the men in calling and woman shaming...we just dont stand up for each other.So the idea that we could be any different is alien. Just this week yet another phenomenal woman said I was her #WCW. Seems like a small thing to most of you but I was elated! And her other #WCW was also a woman whose beauty and brains I am in awe of. THEN SHE SENT ME A MESSAGE YESTERDAY telling me SHE thinks I am awesome. WHAAAT?!! 2 phenomenal women in a week think I am awesome.Given that this week (actually the past few months) has been particularly difficult for me, I couldnt think of a better way God could have reaffirmed me and restored my confidence. So to all the strong women in my life who dont conform to societys expectayion of a woman, I thank you and celebrate you today. You should be celebrated more often. I am strong. I am beautiful. I am loved. X
