Everyone knows how big of a fan I am for Alabama Football... I have made that well known over the years... I have recently been listening to a Bible Study on 90.7 (Only knew about this radio station bc that is the one you have to turn it on to be able to listen to DVDs in the car, thanks to Channing) It has been a true blessing to have found this radio station for sure. Anyways, this Bible Study has been talking about how we make football our god... It convicted me for sure and has made me realize no matter how much I love Alabama football, if I make it my god, ever, I will always set myself up for disappointment. If I put faith in something I cannot control, like Alabama football, I will be let down. If I put my faith in something above and beyond all control, my true and loving God, I will never be let down, He will never forsake me, and He will never disappoint me. This is not to say I am boycotting football because all who know me, know that will not happen because I love it and enjoy it. I can be a fan, however, and still not let it consume my life like I have in the past. The Auburn/Alabama game last year was a perfect example of this disappointment and complete let down.... We (Alabama) had it all in the palm of our hands and in ONE SECOND it was GONE and all was taken away... Why was I so disappointed? Why was I so let down? Because I had my faith where it never should have been in the first place. This ever loving Alabama football that I chose to put on this pedestal had let me down again... SOOO... Heres to football season as we (Alabama) kick off today... I love it and I will probably watch every single game as I always do, but never again will I allow it to come before my relationship with God. I know we all struggle with this because it is a way of life in the South... My prayer today is that we can have fun but not let it get in the way of what is most important. God Bless each and every one of you this beautiful football Saturday... Oh a Roll Tide... (Its all in fun, right?)
