Everything from the right that I have read below dismisses one - TopicsExpress

Everything from the right that I have read below dismisses one thing - the 24th Amendment of our Constitution forbids a poll tax - of any kind - in order to participate in voting in any of our elections. Yes everyone may be able to get a free picture ID but it appears millions across this nation are also being FORCED TO PAY for the identification requirements such as birth certificate or whatever else a state may require to get that free ID. THAT IS THE ESSENCE OF THE POLL TAX SCHEME. If one has to pay anything in order to vote and we can surely see that is what some states now require - then it violates the Constitutional requirement for voting. IF it violates the US Constitution - it would seem to me that it would also violate all state constitutions since they must adhere to federal law. How that escapes the minds of thinking folks shows me their discriminatory behavior is worse than many thought. With that said, I can also see nationwide most poor Republican voting whites are also being taxed - I know many here in Ga are or they are forced into not voting. How that is OK with reason minded people is disgusting especially when those who cant fail to grasp the meaning behind the Poll Tax to begin with. Not all - as suggested by Ellen Moreland - can afford to purchase the required ID to get the picture photo so in essence they are absolutely being discriminated against - on their ability to pay. It is discriminatory in that NOT ALL folks can arguably pay the $15-$45 dollars it takes to purchase a birth certificate, etc., in order to have a picture ID issued. To say that is not factual shows ignorance of those who are able to pay the costs associated with the idea over those millions who can not do so, IT DOES EXIST. Because I can or because working Joe Blow or retired Ms Emma or former Sergeant Rikeoff can does NOT mean 66 year old Ms Mildred or 38 year old unemployed Mr Smith can. Is it really that hard to understand? For far too many it does and that escapes me and what I believe is my reasoned sense. Many of us have spendable cash - and millions of us DONT. It is just that simple an observation that the arrogantly ignorant always seems to willfully ignore. That is what makes this type of case so extraordinary - that some folks simply and inescapably refuse to believe we have folks who have no extra money available. Most of those who are to be disenfranchised are our vets, our elderly not to mention those of color AND that is OK with some of the folks I am reading. If a person is INDIGENT - why does this government not assure them of the right to vote? (It actually seems that our Government did believe in this until lately) Being indigent means they dont have the ABILITY TO PAY. All of those so-called smart people posting in this thread are not smart at all but hell they fake it very well, but they are still seen for they they are - BIGOTS, smart or not. But everyone screams WE LOVE OUR CONSTITUTION. Now that - is a lie. They may love what parts benefit them or their cause but certainly not the spirit of the document by any means. So much for our vaunted more perfect union, that is still just a pipe-dream. These kinds of actions show at least me that. Our union is far from being perfect - unless you have the ability to buy into it. All I can really say - IMO - we are a sad nation unwilling to do the right thing - period. Every person deserves the right NOT the ability - to vote. Everyone does not have the ability IF THEY CANT PAY TO DO SO - so hell take their right away as well. I GET IT.
