Evolution is happening and it makes me hopeful. Sheikh Arif - Lecture 11 and Dr. Nakshwani Lecture 8 (links below) both talk about ijtihad/taqleed/Islamic Jurisprudence, and provide critique, explain how and why ijtihad/taqleed has always been evolving, and present some similar ideas on how it can better facilitate the needs of an increasingly complex world. In particular, Sheikh Arif mentions how new laws should be ascertained by groups of experts, rather than individuals, as it is too much responsibility for any one person to be an expert in multitude of different areas such as psychology, medicine, physics, biology, sociology, etc. One existing rule both question and critique is the need to adhere to only one learned scholars (mujtahids) opinion, and suggest that further discussion needs to take place on those topics. https://youtube/watch?v=kSbGLF-LsFE https://youtube/watch?v=AcT2-lz__tw
