Expert Lecture on Relevance of Communication Skills held at CGC-COE The department of Applied Sciences and Humanities of CGC-COE organized an expert lecture on ‘Relevance of Communication Skills for students of Science and Engineering’ on Feb 18, 2014. Highlighting the importance of effective communication skills in the overall grooming, Prof. Rana Nayar, the renowned critic, scholar, translator and a theatre artist, enlightened the students on the need to develop sound non-technical skills (soft skills), which add to the productivity of an individual. He enlisted the essential of soft skills as communication skills, interpersonal skills, relations management, corporate etiquette, emotional quotient, professional attitude, customer orientation and time management. He also emphasized on the importance of non-verbal communication. Prof. Nayar concluded the lecture by relating an anecdote to the students which showed the students a different dimension and a better understanding of Communication Skills. Dr. Rajneesh Talwar, Principal CGC College of Engineering expressed his gratitude to Prof. Nayar for providing the students with an enriching experience.
