Extremely interesting application for parents/children concerning Matthew 23:1-3 “Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to His disciples, saying: The scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves in the chair of Moses; therefore all that they tell you, do and observe, but do not do according to their deeds; for they say things and do not do them.” “This [can be used as] a warning to parents to practice what they preach, and a warning to children not to use their parents disobedience as an excuse for their own...You never have an excuse for not following Christ. Ive counseled with so many young people in sin and rebellion who will sit there and use as an excuse for their sin and rebellion all the failures and errors of their parents. I will always look at them and say, Well, do you claim to be a follower of Christ? and they say, Yes, yes I am. So I say, Can you explain to me the time that He failed you? That He lied to you? That He did not do what He promised? And they would always say, Well...no. So I said, Well then, you have no excuse for your disobedience and your sin. Parents will fail you, children will fail you, the whole world will fail you, the pastor will fail you, brothers in Christ, sisters in Christ, they will all fail you, but that is not an excuse for disobeying Christ, because He never fails you. Never. The testimony of all the saints, who have been true saints, all said Not one of all His good words have fallen to the ground undone, He is not a man, He does not lie, He is faithful and true.
