The print ISO 9001-2008 CERTIFICATION appears somewhere in practically all Moi university’s official documents and signposts. Even the sign post at the school dispensary has the print in it. Just how does Moi University’s ‘ISO’ness concern the patients visiting the hospital? If there is any first year student who knows the full meaning of ISO 9001:2008 please send me a friend request. SECOND YEARS. The exact date to which they were sent home remains a mystery even to themselves, some of their village mates even thought they were under ‘1000 academic days’. An insult to their injury came to the fore when this particular professor signed a memo that ‘housed’ the infamous ‘further notice’. Well, at last, our beloved second years are resumed studies; but do they know what really awaits them? Flooding ablutions, congested halls of residence, inconsistent lightings at the hostels and the most irritating one is the rude nature of this shopkeeper at Megabytes. (You buy 3 ngumus , he gives you 4 and when you are about to leave, he rudely shouts at you to return the extra ngumu.) But seriously speaking, cant hostel cleaners get sufficient and cleaning equipment; can’t the flooding ablutions be fixed once and for all? Can’t issues with second years getting rooms be brought to a justifiable end? Wait…. Could be all these things aren’t happening because all our DVCs are just ACTING. With this trend, Moi University Is going to be a hub of collateral damage. But I have an advice; let the school administration drop the habit of offering retrogressive and violent like solutions to student affairs. After all, it’s only when a mosquito lands on your testicles that you realize there are ways of solving problems without using force.
