FAAN denies grounding embattled Nyako’s aircraft The Federal Government did not ground any aircraft meant to convey the Adamawa State Governor, Mr. Murtala Nyako, at the Yola Airport on Wednesday, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has said. It said no scheduled aircraft was grounded in Yola and there was no record of the governor’s visit to the airport on Wednesday as claimed by Nyako’s aides. The spokesperson for aviation parastatals, Mr. Yakubu Dati, told our correspondent that the information from the governor’s office that his aircraft was grounded by airports authorities, was false. Dati said, “The information I’m receiving from our Yola Airport manager is that all scheduled flights took place. There was no interruption and in fact the governor did not visit our airport in Yola. We have not closed the airport; the airport is operational and nobody has come to the airport to fly that has been denied to do so.” Asked if there was another airport in Yola that the governor would have gone to, Dati said, “There is no other airport in Yola and we don’t want to join issues with politicians because we are strictly professionals and operate based on our professional objectives. “We have no record of anybody who came to fly and was not allowed to. The person in question, we have no record that he even came to the airport.”
