FACT: Pets die in shelters because shelter directors find it easier to kill them. Then they typically attempt to justify it by placing the blame on “the public,” rather than taking the steps necessary to save them. FACT: Any excuse they give for killing is nothing more than a blame-displacing strategy, or propagated myth. FACT: No kill works. There are currently over 40 OPEN-ADMISSION no kill shelters in the USA. Since it can be done anywhere, IT SHOULD BE DONE EVERYWHERE. Therefore, there is no excuse for the killing to continue. 17 million people will get new pets in the U.S.A. this year, and they would consider adopting if the shelter pets were visible and available. That means there are plenty of homes to go around. That also means between 3 and 4 million will die for no reason other than the shelters and their administrators are not doing their jobs properly. Killing pets costs the community money. Finding them homes MAKES the community money. Shelter Administrators: STOP THROWING AWAY MONEY AND NEEDLESSLY MURDERING PETS.
