#FACTS For the past 30 years Pac-Man has something quite familiar to many people, because they have seen it on cereal boxes, in a Saturday morning cartoon program and even on every gaming platform. But there are a few surprising facts about Pac-Man that probably no one has ever heard about as they have just been shared by the creator of the game, Toru Iwatani. 1.It was created with the aim to attract girls. Back in the years there were no home games, so people had to go out and meet each other at clubs, where they could play games. So it was mainly boys` area that is why the creator wanted to attract girls as well. 2.The four ghosts have specific orders. It seems that the four ghosts are actively trying to catch you, but Pinky (pink) and Inky (blue) are just trying to position themselves, Clyde (orange) is moving at random, and Blinky (red) is actually pursuing you. 3.What does the name mean? The creator decided to make this game with the idea that girls love eating desserts. And ‘puck puck’ in Japanese is like the American saying of ‘munch munch’. 4.There was a missing piece of the puzzle. Because of the limited technologies in the 80s, Toru could not create a shelter for the Pack-Man as he originally wanted. 5.The ghosts were one colour in the beginning. The president of Namco ordered the creator of the game to make all the ghosts in red colour. Toru refused to do it and proved the president wrong after a questionnaire given to the game’s testers showed that they actually preferred the multi-color option.
