FAYEMI TO COMMISSION OVER 100KM OF ROADS DURING 3RD ANNIVERSARY. Ekiti State Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Mr. Sola Adebayo has said that over 100 kilometers of roads have been completed and will be commissioned during the third anniversary of the Fayemi led administration. The roads include Ijero-Ipoti-Ayetoro (17km), Irele-Ponyon (11.64km), Ikole-Ijesa Isu-Ilumoba (23km), Igede-Awo-Ido (24km) as well as Ijigbo-Baptist College township road (3.62km) and Aladesanmi crescent (0.6km). The Commissioner noted that the gesture is in line with the resolve of the present administration to make all parts of the state accessible by 2014. He assured that all the roads are of good quality stressing that government would not compromise on delivery of durable roads by contractors. Mr. Adebayo said Governor Kayode Fayemi will also flag-off rehabilitation of more roads in the state during the anniversary celebration in furtherance of achieving the target of making all parts of the state accessible by 2014. SOUTH WEST INTEGRATION FOR DEVELOPMENT, NOT POLITICS-AFUYE. Ekiti State Commissioner for Integration and Intergovernmental Affairs, Hon. Funminiyi Afuye has said that the south West Integration was not conceived to play politics but to boost development of the region. Featuring on a NTA Ado-Ekiti Current Affairs Programme, “In the saddle”, Hon Afuye noted that the country witnessed more development while operating a regional system. The Commissioner particularly acknowledged level of the development experienced in the South West under the leadership of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo adding that the achievements of leaders of the other regions were also phenomenon. He said that in view of the historical antecedents, regional arrangement is more appropriate in achieving good governance for qualitative development of the country. Afuye highlighted areas of cooperation of the South West state under the regional integration arrangement to include education, road network, industrialization and electric power supply. On the peer review mechanism of the regional integration, the Commissioner said that other states in the South West have replicated the Ekiti state Social Security Scheme while Ekiti has also share some programmes from other States. EKSG ROLLS OUT FIRE SERVICE EMERGENCY MEMBERS. Ekiti State Government has published Fire Service Emergency numbers for distress calls in the state. The members are 07069582302, 08035785164 and 08057651977 for Ado Ekiti; 07069582359, 0805761983 for Ikere Ekiti and 07069582273 08057651948 for Ikole Ekiti. A statement from the office of the state Commissioner for Special duties, Mr. Apalara Wole-Adewumi assured people in the state of adequate security of lives and property. The statement disclosed that members of paramedical corps that were recently recruited to man the newly purchased six fire trucks, three water tankers and five ambulances were currently undergoing internship programme at the Ekiti State University teaching Hospital (EKTSU) Ado Ekiti to prepare them for the task ahead. It assured that the on-going renovation of the Igbara-Odo, Otun, Ago Aduloju, Itawure and Ifaki Ambulance bays would be completed as soon as possible while contracts for two fire stations at Ikere and Ikole have been awarded. COMMISSIONER URGES COOPERATIVE SOCIETIES TO EMBARK ON PROFITABLE VENTURES. Ekiti State Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Empowerment, Chief Folounso Olabode has advised cooperative societies in the State to embark on profit making ventures that could improve their investment profiles. The Commissioner, who gave the advice at the 54th Annual General Meeting of the Ekiti Ifetayo Cooperative Multipurpose Union Limited held in Ado Ekiti, urged cooperative societies to drastically reduce their recurrent expenditure so that they can become more viable. Speaking through the Deputy Director of the Cooperative Services Mr. Dayo Falua, Commissioner Olabode lauded the efforts of the societies at improving the lots of their members. The Commissioner promised to assist the Union to recover all outstanding loans from decaulters debts within the ambit of the law. He urged them to troop out amasses for the 1st Ekiti Cooperative day, adding that the state government would form announce date for the celebration. The Commissioner urged the 54 societies that made up of the union to pay up their audit and supervising fees. Earlier in his welcome address, the re-elected president of the Union, Elder Isaiah Oluwadare Dada who commended the union members, for their support for the EXCO noting that the Union realized One Million, Three Hundred and sixty Thousand Naira from rents with a net profit of one million, seven hundred and fifty thousand, six hundred naira only. The president revealed that their investment profit stated at Eighteen Million Naira appreciating that all these were made possible as a result of the cooperation and determination of the members. While thanking Governor Fayemi for the recognition given to the cooperative societies in the State, Elder Dada promised to reciprocate by supporting the Governor in his bid to move the state forward.
