FC Barcelona was presented for the third year running with the Fair Play Award for the 2012-2013 season, by the Spanish Football Federation. The ceremony was all the more special because the Segunda Division version of the award was also awarded to our very own Barça B team. The first team totaled 74 points, with the second placed team Valladolid collecting 88. The first time that FC Barcelona won the award was during the double winning season of 2005-2006 under Frank Rijkaard, and then during the treble winning 2008-2009 campaign under Pep Guardiola. There were also two other awards to be won during the Guardiola era for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons, which bring this year’s award under Tito Vilanova to three consecutive Fair Play awards for the Catalan team. It says a lot about the philosophy of the club that it has won the award under three different coaches, by getting the lowest amount of points based on the number of cards given and other penalties during the season. -AndresIkbal
