FEMALE ASSAULTED – PEEL STREET TAMWORTH About 1:45am Saturday the 29th of June 2013 a 32 year old local woman was seated outside Cotton On near the intersection of Peel and Brisbane Streets at Tamworth. As the woman sat speaking with two men whom she had met at a nearby hotel earlier in the evening, she noticed a white coloured sedan stop nearby in the trafficable lanes of Peel Street. An unknown female has exited the vehicle and began to argue with the woman before pulling her to the ground by the hair, punching and kicking her several times. Following the assault the woman has made her way home suffering visible facial injuries. The matter was reported to police several hours later. The woman informed police she does not know her assailant and the motive behind the attack is unknown. It is considered a strong possibility that the attacker is known to the men with whom the injured woman was speaking immediately prior to the incident. Police are eager to speak with anyone who may be able to assist with their enquiries or who may have witnessed the incident. Sgt PARSONS
