FEU student leaders vow to fight modern-day slavery Student leaders of Far Eastern University vowed to fight human trafficking in a lecture-forum organized by Student Development (SDev), Society of Language Educators, and Visayan Forum (VF) last August 20 at the Science Building 101-A. The campaign called iFIGHT has provided the student leaders with various means to fight human trafficking. They can either set up a chapter of iFIGHT, sign petitions, watch the upcoming movie on child labor/trafficking titled Tumbang Preso, or do volunteer work with VF. VF is a 23-year-old, not-for-profit organization that has saved women and children from human trafficking. Ernest dela Cuesta, iFIGHT coordinator, presented the gravity, contexts, and indicators of the problem. He also outlined the practical solutions. VFs founder Cecilia Oebanda graced the lecture-forum together with VFs director for social policy and advocacy Sharmila Parmanand. Bek Osborne, an Australian volunteer, briefly shared a testimonial on volunteering for a worthy cause. If you want to be an iFIGHTER too, click here iamafighter.visayanforum.org/index.php.
