FIRE UPDATE: FIRE UPDATE: Gwandalan Peeps: Have just been out to check what is going on, been up to the roundabout and spoken with the firefighters who have advised they have put a fire barrier in place. What this means is they have burnt under controlled conditions a section of the bushland leading up to the roundabout so that when the fire that is burning on Kanagra drive gets to the area that is already been burnt out it cant jump the barrier and enter Gwandie. There is still some low level burning going on down in the bay near the squidy wharf nearby the park on Gamban and they are going to head back and check on that now. Evacuation point for safety if it comes to it is the bowling club though the fire crew advised they dont think it will come to that at this stage. Updates can be received via local radio. Am feeling better having some information, the hardest part was sitting here not knowing what was going on with no incoming information. Hope this gives locals and friends and family of locals some peace of mind. We are tracking OK under the circumstances. Stay safe Peeps and remember to keep your animal close just in case.
