FLASH FLOOD AT HELENSVALE Thank you to the many people who have called and emailed their concerns about the safety of our Guests and Staff. The situation so far… Last night Helensvale was hit with a flash flood. We had 100mm of rain in just less than three hours. There was no weather warning to give anyone a chance to prepare. The water came up quickly and a number of campers were inundated and had to move. Thankfully there were no injuries but understandably the situation was stressful for everyone, and some camping equipment was damaged. The flood waters have receded now, although we are very muddy in the river-walk area. Fortunately we have been able to find higher ground for everyone – some on other sites, many in cabins or motel suites. We have provided the emergency accommodation without charge and we will make it available for tonight where at all possible. We will begin to call guests who are expected to arrive today and advise them of the situation. Thank you so much for the wonderful community spirit shown and the joint effort of so many. A special thanks to everyone for their understanding and cooperation.
