FNPF signs agreement with Marriott International for new resort More jobs are expected to be created over the next two years as the Fiji National Provident Fund has signed an agreement with the Marriott International Incorporated to manage a 250 room Fiji Marriott Resort at Momi Bay. The main construction work is expected to commence in the second quarter of this year while the resort is expected to open in 2016. FNPF Chief Executive Officer Aisake Taito said this is a major milestone for the Momi redevelopment project. Taito said the project is a critical part of the Fund’s investment rehabilitation and reform program with the objective to recover members funds invested in the hotel project. Taito said they are determined to produce a new experience for growing tourism portfolios and to contribute to the economy in the creation of job opportunities and hotel inventory. Marriott International has more than 4,000 properties in more than 80 countries and territories around the world. Meanwhile, Vice President Hotel Development Asia Pacific of Marriott International James Doolan said Fiji has a strong appeal to leisure travelers from Australia, New Zealand, as well as the long haul source markets of US, Continental Europe and Asia.
