FOOD & BEVERAGE MONTH - This was actually the real turning point in the way I viewed Michael Jackson. Not just commercially (Which of course, goes without saying) but in creating a writing style & vision that was artistically his own. This song appears to be just a standard Michael dance thing .......but then it gets personal & slightly disturbing. In the bridge Mike starts singing Youre a vegetable, youre a vegetable Still they hate you, youre a vegetable Youre just a buffet, youre a vegetable They eat off of you, youre a vegetable ... Suddenly it becomes clear that the whole song is one of his paranoia . Michael came into his own as a serious Writer on this album. One with a highly personal & not always comfortable vision.
