FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Trusting God Read Luke 17:1 through 18:43 God has many encouraging words for faithful prayer warriors. People are told to pray always (Ephesians 6:18). There are many promises regarding prayer throughout the Bible. Jesus was anxious that men should learn to pray and communicate with His Father as He did. Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up (Luke 18:1). It is true that there are often hindrances to prayer and that we are sometimes impatient when the answer doesn’t come right away. But the lesson in this parable is that persistent prayer will be rewarded. God did not disappoint Abraham on Mount Moriah. He did not disappoint Joseph in prison. God did not disappoint Elijah on Mount Carmel. He did not abandon the heroes of faith listed in Hebrews 11. God has not disappointed the saints who have called on Him down through the years, and God will not disappoint those who continue to seek Him in faith. Thought for Today: “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (James 5:16).
