FOOD PURCHASING CLUBS OFFER A GOOD DEAL ... As we head into winter, purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables for yourself or your family can be increasingly challenging, particularly for families on a fixed income. With this in mind, several New Brunswick Communities have created food purchasing clubs to make accessing fresh produce more financially feasible. Fredericton, Saint John and Moncton all offer such clubs. Although each club operates differently, the concept is the same by having members purchase produce through one central distributor, the members of the club are able to combine their resources and buy produce in bulk, resulting in lower prices. In many clubs, volunteers and members assist with the packaging and distribution of the produce on a monthly basis. Many clubs also offer multiple pick up locations to make the program more accessible to those who may have limited transportation.
