FOR GLAY 2013 - STANDING FOR VOCAL Hi there everyone, I feel that a lot of you are getting tired of the same old Pride and I believe that this can be changed for the better, for everyone, for YOU! I think it is important that you know about the people that are standing in to join the Committee for the next 2 years so below is a short summary of my experiences and what I believe I can bring to Pride for the future. From a very young age I worked alongside school and college and still graduated with 12 GCSEs, 4 A Levels & a NVQ in Travel & Tourism. After College I went onto work for Thomas Cook, one of the Biggest Travel Companies in the world which has also taught me a lot about the world of Travel and Customer Service in which I feel I excel in. I moved to Gran Canaria with my husband in January 2012, since then we have opened a bar “Amigos Coffee” which has been an eye opener to the world of bars & café’s. We believe we have a strong branding and hope to open more stores soon. How can I help the future of Pride? Communication & Social Networking are some of my best attributes and I feel that this aspect of Pride could greatly benefit from my skills and experience in this area. My first job on the committee would be to get this sorted! A Facebook page that creates excitement all year and has the most relevant information up-to-date! Also a website that is modern, unique and easy to use (also updated regularly) A portal for the members of GLAY that is also updated and has the minutes from every meeting on and exactly what we are up to on the committee! All of Pride needs to be totally transparent and I believe all bar owners need to know what their own efforts and money is being spent on. I would also like to see that the GLAY AWARDS are kept, this is one of the only times of the year all the members of GLAY come together and I feel this is very important. I would like to make this event more modern and up-to-date with a website where voting can be done etc… If done correctly this event will not be a big expense but a showcase of GLAY and a good income source! Another point that I feel very strongly about is delegation! Pride cannot be ran by individuals we must have a team and every member of that team needs to know exactly what their job is! I am a strong believer in that Pride can be improved and it can be supported by many more than it is! I feel that GLAY has lost trust over the past few years and it needs to regain that trust. An idea of mine is to go to every bar at the beginning, and ask exactly what they want from GLAY. Then we can see exactly what we are dealing with and hopefully tick off many items on the list! I do know this is going to be a hard task to achieve but I feel that I can help! My sole aim for this venture would be that I will work for YOU! The people that need the support!
