FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Friday, January 9, 2015 Police Investigate Overnight Shooting in North Spokane Contact: Ofc. Teresa Fuller The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit is currently investigating an overnight shooting. The shooting occurred in the area of Bridgeport/Napa and the victim is currently in critical condition at a local hospital, but is expected to survive. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, however it is not believed to be random. Early this morning, January 9, 2015, just before 1:00 am, Spokane Police responded to several reports of shots fired in the area of Bridgeport/Napa. A neighbor in the 1800 block of E. Liberty discovered a bullet hole in her front window. Within a couple of minutes of the first call, 911 received an additional call of a shooting victim on the porch of a house in the 1900 block of E. Bridgeport. Responding officers found the victim with gunshot wounds to his chest. The victim is currently in critical condition but is expected to survive his injuries. Officers were able to get some limited information from the victim, and individuals believed to be witnesses at the scene have not been forthcoming with information surrounding the incident. Detectives do not believe this was a random crime and the victim and suspect are believed to be acquaintances. The Major Crimes Unit is still in the area conducting their investigation and processing the scene for evidence. They are also in the process of obtaining a search warrant for a house near the scene, as part of their investigation.
