FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Monkey’s Uncle Grill is coming to The Monkey Wrench Lil Cheezers, Stellar Craft Catering and The Monkey Wrench owners collaborate on new dining concept Louisville, KY (December 23, 2014) – Matt Davis, founder and sole-operator of Lil Cheezers, Bret Donaldson, founder of Stellar Craft Catering, which works with music festivals and high volume touring events, and Dennie Humphrey, owner of The Monkey Wrench are teaming up to present a new concept to Louisville’s restaurant and bar industry. Davis and Donaldson met at Abbey Road On The River in 2011 and an immediate bond was formed. Both have remained close friends and business associates since then, having partnered on several ventures including food vending and concessions for the inaugural Louder Than Life festival in October 2014. Now, Davis, Donaldson and Humphrey are joining forces to bring The Monkey’s Uncle Grill to The Monkey Wrench; featuring Lil Cheezer’s signature sandwiches and an expanded menu of classic pub fare, signature entrees and a rotating selection of specialties. “Matt and I have always enjoyed taking on special events together, and this opportunity to create a partnership that leverages both our strengths, especially in a local landmark like The Monkey Wrench, is thrilling, said Donaldson. “I’m excited to be a part of it”. The Monkey Wrench has always been an outlet for talent- music, art, spoken word, festivals, so why not culinary arts? Through the years The Monkey Wrench has seen quite a few talented people come through its doors, and has served as inspiration for new businesses concepts. Take Alison Freels and Dustin Staggers for example. Freels worked at The Monkey Wrench for about eight years before opening The Cure Lounge. Before Staggers’ opened Roux, he served as Humphrey’s executive chef. “Louisville is becoming a true foodie town,” said Humphreys. “The Monkey Wrench has always served food and within the last year, we’ve become known for having really great food. But we’re more relaxed than what it’s been. We love being in the Highlands neighborhood, offering affordable food and a casual lounge atmosphere. We need to get back to that. We’re still going to be the same great venue for live performances, game watch parties, concerts, but now with the food to match it.” “I think this is a great opportunity for Lil Cheezer’s many fans to once again have a place they can come enjoy our sandwiches,” said Davis. “We’re excited to be back in the neighborhood.” The Monkey’s Uncle Grill will open on New Year’s Eve and the weekend following with a limited menu. The menu will expand over the first few weeks in January. The Monkey’s Uncle Grill will be open Tuesday and Wednesday 4:00pm-10:00pm or later, Thursday-Saturday 4:00pm-midnight or later, and a Sunday brunch will be offered 10:00am-3:00pm.
