FOR THOSE OF WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT JURY DUTY: I just returned from a 7day hiatus from work serving as a juror (my first time serving on an actual criminal trial) it was surreal... Deliberation, serving as Jury foreman, hearing the verdict read (Not Guilty, both counts) followed by defendant bursting into uncontrollable tears (as well as his wife&mom) the def attorney also crying... Upon leaving the courtroom, I spoke with the def attorney who explained that she was emotional because she had never defended a client W/so many yrs at stake, had he been found guilty of just one of the two counts he would have served 19yrs... I was also told that it took the courts 3 additional days prior to our jury pool to select a jury (over 150 perspectives ) Although I joke around a lot I took this process very seriously as did the others and despite our personal perception differences ALL focused on evidence & law and ruled accordingly... So if you happen to serve in the future (and I recommend u do) try and be impartial to your own bias when u try and rationalize, stick to the legal guidelines closely because you never know the sentencing that could be at stake ... The system is not perfect but Im glad my conscious is clear
