FRAN ----------------BILL MCMURDOS WEBLOG Sandy Easdale Hits Out At “Phantom Bid” NOVEMBER 19, 2014 / BILLMCMURDO Sandy Easdale has shot down Dave King’s latest pronouncements on the bid that never was, scathingly referring to it as a “phamtom bid” and refuting King’s contention that Easdale’s shareholding and proxies blocked his move to take control at Ibrox. In a statement, Easdale said:- “I feel it necessary to respond to the statement released by Mr Dave King yesterday. I am 100% supportive of the stance taken by David Somers, our PLC chairman. David had a legal and regulatory duty to determine the legitimacy of Mr King’s offer. Any suggestion on Mr King’s part that I had agreed that these contentious issues could be dealt with after an acceptance of his bid are inaccurate and misleading. My remit as chairman of the football board does not permit me to make such assurances. For the avoidance of any doubt, and for the record, I made no such agreement. Mr King did not satisfy David Somers’ reasonable and corporately responsible questions regarding proof of funds at any point whatsoever. The suggestion that Mr King could not proceed further because my shareholding and proxies would have blocked his bid is a nonsense. For a bid to be rejected it has to be received first. I can only conclude that Mr King’s phantom bid was designed as vehicle for self-promotion of some kind. Unfortunately the consequences of his inaccurate and ill-advised statement serves further to destabilise the club and upsets the fan base at this very sensitive time. I have grown tired of Mr King’s antics.” Sandy Easdale’s robust response will be welcomed by many on Rangers’ websites and forums. The overwhelming consensus on one Rangers forum was for Dave King to remove himself . To put it as politely as possible. King’s desperate call for Gers fans to boycott the club is being perceived as petty and spiteful. As recent events have shown, Rangers fans have other things to concern themselves with. For the bluenose legions, Dave King is old news.
