FREE FROM LDC :NATIONAL DEVT ---------------------------------------- Myanmar to be free from the list of less developed countries, the Implementation Committee held its meeting in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday. Vice-President U Nyan Tun called collective efforts of the public and private sectors and civil societies to fulfill the set norms of Gross National Income, Human Assets Index and Economic Vulnerability. If Myanmar could meet two of three set norms or double the National per Capita income, the Council of Development Policy will make recommendations. Based on the CSDP assessment, the ECOSOC will submit progress report which will be kept record at the UN General Assembly. After three years, Myanmar will be finally free from the LDC list. The Vice-President stressed to conduct review on progress of Millennium Development Goals and poverty reduction while preparing assessment seminars with the participation of local and international experts.
