FREE PUBLIC WI-FI ZONE –„ Info wireless park 2014“ Equality of opportunity in the digital age requires that all individuals, especially those living in rural and poor communities, have access to online information along with the skills to use and interpret the information they find on the Internet. Project“ Info wireless park 2014“ Turbe – municipality Travnik supported by US Embassy Sarajevo are uniquely positioned to provide this opportunity. In an age where economic, educational, health, and social opportunities increasingly depend on access to the Internet, lack of access means lack of opportunity. Only 30 percent of the rural population of municipality Travnik is connected to the internet, and people in rural and poor communities are the least likely to have online access or the skills to navigate the digital world. Through three public WiFi zone ( rural community Turbe, Potkraj and roma community Bešlija), people search for employment, find markets for their crops and products, access government programs, learn new skills through online courses, research important health issues, and engage in social interactions with distant family members and friends. Through free education have the ability to be competitive in the labor market and be equal with their peers in urban areas. With their existing infrastructure, dedicated staff, and mission to connect individuals to information, free WiFi zone are uniquely suited to offering public internet access and training to people who would otherwise be left behind in the digital world. A recent study showed that users in rural communities tend to access more information about health, education, language, and culture than those who use the internet at other urban public locations. Rural public WiFi zone users also report more positive impact on their lives from Internet use in areas such as health, education, communication, and personal finances. With this project we are covered more than 10000 people from 3 rural village (Turbe, Potkraj and Bešlija) and created better condition for living in this area. With this project we are the first community in BiH who make free internet for Roma village and offer free education how to using and interpret the information they find on internet for all people from rural area of municipality Travnik. This project has enabled the generous support of the American people through the United States Embassy in Sarajevo. Turbe 02.09.2014.
