FROM: DOST-PAGASA SEVERE WEATHER BULLETIN No. 8 Tropical Cyclone Warning: Tropical Storm “#GorioPH” Issued at 5:00 PM, 29 June 2013 Tropical Storm “GORIO” has accelerated further and is now over Sorsogon Bay. Location of eye/center: At 4:00PM today, the center of Tropical Storm “GORIO” was estimated based on all available data at 40 km Southeast of Legaspi City (12.9°N, 123.9°E). Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. Movement: Forecast to move Northwest at 24 kph. Forecast Positions: Tropical Storm “GORIO” is expected to be at 60 km Northwest of Iba, Zambales after passing Metro Manila in the morning. By Monday afternoon, it will be at 560 km Northwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur and out of the Philippine Area of Responsibity (PAR). Public Storm Warning Signal No.2 (Winds of 61-100 kph is expected in at least 24 hrs): Masbate incl. Ticao and Burias is., Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Marinduque, Quezon incl. Polilio Is., Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Batangas, Laguna, Cavite, Bataan and Metro Manila Public Storm Warning Signal No.1 (Winds of 45-60 kph is expected within the next 36 hours): Catanduanes, Romblon, Mindoro provinces incl Lubang island, La Union, Benguet, Nueva Viscaya, Quirino and Aurora, Samar provinces, Leyte provinces, Biliran, Northeastern Iloilo, Capiz and Aklan. • Public Storm Warning Signals elsewhere are now lowered. • Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signals #2 & #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone. • Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Storm. • The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM tonight.
