June 27 2014 Google accepts a piece of clap trap garbage Google just accepted (bought the rights to) a tethered robot that has none of the real technical issues solved if it needs a tether, for $1 million. Google is supposedly going to release this as the future in personal robots. I have ONE THING TO SAY to the fools at Google: Hondas Asimo is far far far beyond this. Why do they only put junk in the mainstream press? Asimo can, while running now, AT A FULL RUN, find and kick a soccer ball through a goal. Asimo can walk a hall full of people who are walking toward him and avoid them all without stopping, Asimo goes around them like a real person. Asimo walks like a regular person in a crowd and uses his eyes. Asimo can open containers and pour liquids and use judgment while doing so, and not spill. Asimo can understand multiple conversations simultaneously, single out who is saying what, and when they stop talking, give correct responses to everyone. Asimo can of course run on uneven surfaces on two legs at HIGH SPEED (9 kilometers an hour, similar to most people) hop up and down on one foot, do sign language, do steps, and give tours. Asimo operates without a tether or cord of any type, and therefore blows these pieces of clap trap scrap back where they belong - in the 80`s with Robie Junior. Asimo is only leased and is not allowed to be sold. I do not know if that is by Hondas rules or outside rules. Honda hopes to one day sell Asimo to regular people, but I am not certain that will be allowed. I strongly recommend people watch this video of Asimo, people really need to know this exists and GOOGLE needs to GET A LIFE. Here is a video of Asimo kicking a ball and talking with President Obama (this was not in the first linked video.) Intellectually Asimo seems about like a 9 year old, but processing what to say and how to react still takes a little time. But everything is executed perfectly here and you can be certain, as stupid as Obama is, that this could not possibly have been staged. Obviously Asimo no longer has any trouble with stairs. You do a great job! Stay safe. My response: Thanks for the heads up. It does indeed make little sense to ship it all back to the U.S., and the convergence of events is spooky. There is only one thing - the arrival of these WMDs has been announced, with them in American custody. But any time crisis actors are hired, especially during a holiday when all Gov types are supposed to be off it is a serious red flag. A note to people out there, pay attention as much as possible while you enjoy the 4th, and if anything happens immediately start doing screen captures and video saves (use Keepvid for that) so we can catch them in conflicting reports and lies.
