FROM: SUNDAYS OPEN Q & A Do you know how Ezra 1:13 relates to in Rev 13 Mark of the beast 666 and how Solomon brought in 666. Ezra 2:13* The children of Adonikam, six hundred sixty and six. ANSWER Literally, the name Adonikam means: The Lord of rising. The 666 does lead us in the direction of Revelation 13 and the number of man. But with so little information in this verse its hard to say. Its also interesting that the parallel passage in the book of Nehemiah gives a slightly different number: Nehemiah 7: 18 The children of Adonikam, six hundred threescore and seven. The apparent discrepancies in the numbers is one of the fascinating and most difficult things about Ezra & Nehemiah. Somehow, there were 666 children of Adonikam; and somehow there were also 667 children of Adonikam. Again, yes the 666 could relate to the mark of the beast and tie in with Adonikams children. But we do we do with that information from there? It doesnt seem to lead anywhere. I think there is a big teaching hidden away in these genealogical accounts of Ezra and Nehemiah. I feel this way because there are numerous discrepancies between the two accounts. Now we know there are no actual discrepancies. Which means that God has intentionally given different numbers (the 666 compared to 667 is only one example of many) in these two seemingly identical accounts. I think it would take a lot of work and patience to work through this, but if God would be pleased to open up our eyes we would find answers to these numbers and more than likely see a bigger overall picture that it fits into.
