FROM: SUNDAYS OPEN Q & A Have you ever thought about The spiritual meaning behind, Peter rejecting Christ at cock crowing? 30 And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. (Mark 14:30 KJV Strongs) ANSWER Ive been thinking about the passages where Peter denies Christ 3 times, for a little while now. We know God told Peter that he is a rock and God will build his church on him. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Matt 16:18 KJV Strongs) But we know the true Rock is Jesus Christ and the Church(elect) is build on HIM. What if God is using Peter as a picture of The external churches or Individuals that identify with Christ but are not saved. So if we would look at Peter denying Christ as being a picture of the church OR Corporations That Identify with Jesus but are Not truly saved , Denying Christ 3 times before the cock crows twice... We know that cock crows in the mornings and we know mornings are a picture of Resurrection. 9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils. (Mark 16:9 KJV Strongs) We know that the first resurrection was before the foundation of the world, which Jesus Christ demonstrated On the cross, when He was crucified in 33A.D. And the second resurrection would be when Christ gathers up HIS elect, when he destroys this world.. So before the second resurrection, which would be the last resurrection, could the church people that identify with Christ but are not the elect , deny him 3 times. The first time : when they denied him through the nation of Israel, during the synagogue era. When they denied him coming in to this world in the flesh. The second time : when they denied him during the New Testament church era. By continuing to stay in the churches. And not listening to the commandment to get out. Denying him as the Judge of the churches. And the third time : when they denied him after may 21, 2011 ... all those that left the churches, but now still believe that this is the day of salvation( Of course some might be confused and sooner or later will understand the truth). Denying Christ coming as the Judge On may 21 2011 to Judge the whole world spiritually. Asker: In Matthew 16:18 Where Jesus tells Peter that he is the rock and Jesus will build his church on him , in the same chapter in the following verses, in the same context in verse 21 Jesus is talking about going to Jerusalem(Church) and suffering many things from Pharisees and scribes and elders of Israel, and talks about being killed by them. We know that all the Pharisees elders and scribes were thinking they were doing Gods will by killing Christ, just like the churches. In other words people that identified with God denied Christ.. 21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. (Matt 16:21 KJV Strongs) Please look into this, and see if the Scriptures would allow this idea. God bless you brother . ANSWER Youre right to look for a spiritual meaning regarding Peters denial and the cock crowing; but I think the scenario youve laid out is to elaborate without much evidence to support it. There would need to be more tie ins (with the language found in the passage) to the church, and the various points of denying Christ.
