FROM THE NEWSROOM: After a long waiting period, Putnam officials are hopeful that work on the Quinebaug Regional Technology Park will be able to get off of the ground. Town Administrator Doug Cutler says that the results of two archeological studies in the area off of Kennedy Drive are expected to be returned by the end of December. Additionally, a draft-deed allowing a break in the non-access line to I-395 has been approved by the Conn. Department of Transportation, according to Cutler. Officials hope that, before the end of the month, negotiations with Wheelabrator, regarding the terms of a 62-acre donation of land to the town, will wrap up. The Board of Selectmen will also embark on creating what Cutler calls a “master schedule” for the various components of the project; including installation of utilities and construction of the bridge, as well as the YMCA and tech park development. Funding for each of the components will also be clearly spelled out in the schedule, Cutler says. Tune in for the full report.
