FROM THE NEWSROOM: Nutmeg International Parts is making the short move from its former Killingly facility over to Brooklyn, where Economic Development Commission member Ron Ventura says interest is growing in the towns commercial district. “This is a new-to-Brooklyn business located in the commercial district on South Main Street,” says Ventura. The company, which is leasing a portion of the Racine Printing plant on South Main Street, will bring a small number of jobs to the town and is expected to give a modest boost to the towns the grand list. As the economy starts to turn around, Ventura says Brooklyn is feeling the benefits. “There seems to be an increase in interest in locating in the district,” says Ventura. “There havent been any new proposals brought forth yet, but there seems to be a lot of behind the scenes conversations.” According to Ventura, the town is more interested in marketing itself to smaller enterprises in its commercial district, rather than expanding industrial base. Tune in for the full report.
