FROM THE NEWSROOM: Preliminary plans to convert the former armory facility on Keech Street into a recreation center have been pushed forward by the Putnam Board of Selectmen, which voted Monday evening to allow the town attorney to begin forming a non-binding draft agreement with legal counsel for the towns potential project partners: Northeast Opportunities for Wellness (NOW), and three other regional non-profits serving the regions youth. NOW Vice President Keith OHara says that his organization – along with its partners WPTP Football and Cheerleading, Putnam Little League and Softball, and NECONN Soccer – is proud to be afforded the opportunity to explore renovation options for the town, explaining this is a great way to bring more recreation opportunities to families while also addressing Putnams blight issue. Tune in tomorrow for more details.
