(AP) — UConns mens and womens national champion basketball teams posted perfect academic progress scores a year after the men were banned from the NCAA tournament for past problems. The news did not come as a surprise. Huskies coach Kevin Ollie had announced the mens score in October, when the school sent its 2012-13 scores to the NCAA. They were officially released Wednesday. The perfect 1,000 brings the mens four-year average to 936, which is still just six points above the minimum to avoid sanctions. But the scores, which measure the academic eligibility of athletes, have been steadily improving. The schools other national championship team, womens field hockey, also posted a perfect 1,000. Athletic Director Warde Manuel says they prove a school can have both multiple national championships and academic success.
