(AP) — The leader of a public access cable television company in eastern Connecticut says the not-for-profit business is still clearing up a financial mess created by its former board of directors president, who is serving eight years in prison for stealing nearly $380,000. Marie Burbank is president of the Bolton-based Community Voice Channel, which operates public access, educational access and government access channels serving several towns. She told the Journal Inquirer that the company has spent years paying back vendors and still owes more than $120,000 to the IRS and state because of the past presidents actions. The former president, Deborah Hilton, pleaded guilty to larceny and was sentenced Thursday to eight years in prison. Prosecutors say Hilton stole from the company for five years to fund an extravagant lifestyle.
