FUN FACT FRIDAY: By preserving threatened and endangered - TopicsExpress

FUN FACT FRIDAY: By preserving threatened and endangered ecosystems, the Deering Estate at Cutler provides habitat for 89 species deemed endangered or threatened by state and federal authorities. Researchers from Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and Everglades National Park assist with the cultivation, reintroduction and monitoring of native taxa, while Natural Areas Management keeps invasive plant species at less than 5% cover throughout the property. Sadly, the Florida Panther is not one of the species still protected within the Estate. However, the Friends of the Florida Panther Refuge has opened their new Management Plan to public stakeholders, who can contribute their opinions here: floridapantherplan/.
