Proverbs 15:1. Today practice gentleness and use it in three ways: 1) As nourishment to your soul. Purpose to meditate on gentle and loving thoughts as you think of yourself and others. Be gentle with yourself and encourage yourself. Very often our own thoughts about ourselves are harsh and condemning. Then begin to think gentleness in your attitude towards others. A nourished heart of life and love will have life and gentleness towards others. 2) As a weapon to defer strife. Strife takes at least two people. If someone is seeking a strife partner, decline the offer. You choose to rule your world, your thoughts, meditation and communication. Say to yourself: I will not take the bait. 3) As a neutralizer of a targeted attack against your soul. We are encouraged to guard, protect and preserve our hearts. Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23. Neutralize verbal or spiritual attacks with a gentle response. Refuse to yield to strife and its torment. Your healthy heart will remain a wellspring of life, a wellspring of goodness, gentleness and peace. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.. Matthew 11:29. Guard your heart. Guard your mouth. Guard your smile.
