FYUP नियमानुसार वापस The resolution to scrap #FYUP passed in AC with 6 dissents in a perfectly democratic, free and fair atmosphere. This sums up that our top statutory bodies have become a mere rubber stamp of what VC wants otherwise how can the same body that rejected scrapping about a week back now reject it? Quoting Hany Babu (his comment in other thread) on the issue : One can understand the change in the Vice-Chancellors position. But what I find difficult to digest is the fact that the top brass of the University and the deans, heads, principals, and professors have no sense of academic responsibility other than changing their opinion according to that of the Vice-Chancellor. Only the elected representatives (whether pro or anti-FYUP) seem to have performed their duties with a sense of responsibility. If that is so, how can an Academic Council that has more than 80% of yes men debate and express their free and frank opinion on any issue? Isnt it time that we had more members who act more responsibly while participating in academic debates in our statutory bodies? I think the current crisis also makes a case for having a larger proportion of elected representatives in our statutory bodies. (Hindustan, Amar Ujala, Jagran, 29/06/2014)
