Facebook friends, just a little insight into the kinds of things we see everyday. Meet Rachel, an absolutely beautiful dog who was saved from NC in a terrible hoarding situation. The owner had died and there were 30 filthy dogs living in large pens and filth. The local animal control had given rescues about a week to save them until they came in the euthanized them all. We took two, Rachel and Rowan. Rachel was described as possibly pregnant (she wasnt) and all of the dogs were described as completely lacking in socialization so we really didnt know what would arrive. They arrived about a week ago and are being fostered at the home of our foster coordinator, Desiree. They were filthy, they were terrified and had had little contact with people and just kindness in general. With lots of patience, she is making progress in teaching them about love and trust and they will at some point be ready to find their forever homes. To our horror, we learned the day after we rescued her some of the dogs were poisoned (fed antifreeze) and killed. Im so glad we were able to at least save Rachel and Rowan! They are slowly learning to trust and love. Thanks Desiree.
