False. So the New York Times website labels a commentary by its own editor. Todays commentary by editor Dean Baquet on the Sony leaked documents is labeled false on the Times Wire feed. Background: I like to check the Times via Times Wire, a continuous stream of items posted to the Times digital products. Each item appears with an overline, or category label, such as World or Business or Health. But the opinion of editor Baquet was posted today with the label false. Explanation: It appears that quite a few items are posted with the false label. Perhaps no category was provided. They appear to be the miscellaneous items. On my desktop computer, the category space is blank, but on mobile these items are marked false. (See screenshots.) This has been going on for months, but I wonder how long it will take someone at The Times to fix it, now that its happened to the editors commentary. Lesson: If you have a product, someone at the company has to look at it.
